Redefined
Have you ever wondered if something you have believe to be true is actually rooted in truth? Growing up I always had an idea of what my life would be like based on the “truths” of family and my culture. In my twenties I realized that I had to discover what this “truth” meant to me. I began my search, stopped, and began again in my late twenties when I had a defining moment of realization that I could continue living according to my cultural “truths” or let Jesus redefine my life to what He had originally intended. This has lead to a redefinition of my core truths–impossible for possible; disappointment for wonder, sorrow for joy, control for surrender. I am passionate about these new things God is doing in my life.
At Because Justice Matters we believe in redefining the spiritual atmosphere of the Tenderloin District through the consistent engagement of women, mothers and girls through providing a safe place for them at our women’s center, The Well. We do this by co-laboring with Christ in the creation of our programs and in how we spend time with our community. When we embark on the journey of discovering the truth in our individual life and in our community, w e are empowered us to walk in the wholeness of who we are meant to be. We are fearfully and wonderfully made to be the image bearers of God made for great and marvelous things that were established before the foundations of the world. It is vital for all of us to lay aside anything that may be holding us back from walking in His fullness.
We are called to be leaders and a voice for our communities. As Paul said in Philippians 3:13-16, “Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you.Only let us hold true to what we have attained.”
What is God redefining in your life? What truths is He reshaping? The idea of exploring your “truths” maybe daunting…but what if this new thing that he is inviting you into could make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. Could this redefinition of truth be the thing you are missing or have been searching for your whole life?
God is good. He is faithful and will not lead you down a path only to forsake you. Yes, sometimes it will be hard, but I have seen that in the midst of hardness the most beautiful things are birthed. Trust and let His love and goodness redefine you.
